Synopsys Assist

What You Need To Know

Because your days are filled with challenging and rewarding work, it’s important for you to occasionally take time off to rest, travel, relax, recover from illness, or spend time with your loved ones.

Time-Off Programs

Synopsys offers two time-off programs for U.S. employees.

Exempt Time Off (ETO) for Exempt Employees

As an exempt employee, you don’t need to track your exact hours worked, and you’re afforded a certain amount of flexibility in arranging your schedule.

Due to the nature of your exempt position, you’re required to exercise significant discretion. We trust you to be responsible and use your best judgment in taking time off.

How It Works

  • You’re not limited to or allotted a specific amount of paid time off each year.
  • You may take time off at your own discretion, as long as it’s prearranged with your manager. It’s your responsibility to work with your manager to ensure coverage while you’re out, unless the ETO is for an emergency or is unplanned, such as for sickness.
  • Time off is paid at your base salary.

How to Request Time Off

Before approving your ETO request, your manager will consider business needs, departmental coverage, and your deliverables.

Vacation/Non-Vacation for Family or Other Personal Obligations

  • Coordinate with your manager as far in advance as possible.
  • Submit your request using Employee Central when requesting more than two days of time off.

Sick Time

  • Notify your manager as soon as possible.
  • Contact The Larkin Company, our leave administrator, at (866) 330-1975 if your absence will last more than three business days.
  • You are given a bank of 72 hours of paid sick time on date of hire and on January 1 of each year thereafter, up to a maximum of 137 hours.

Other Time Off (Leaves of Absence)

  • Record bereavement or jury duty time in Employee Central.
  • For other leaves of absence, such as medical leave, contact The Larkin Company, our leave administrator, at (866) 330-1975.

Flexible Time Off (FTO) for Nonexempt Employees

As a nonexempt full-time employee, you can take paid time off for vacation, sick time, family reasons, or other personal obligations. FTO accrues on a daily basis beginning on your first day of employment, based on the accrual schedule below.
